Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The first volume of this new series of studies was born of the need to bridge a cultural "void" around migration and offer interdisciplinary contributions and alternative theories to both the scientific academic community and to interested members of the public. This book attempts to offer a synthesis of migratory flows and migration policy aspects between two continents, with particular reference to two case studies, Canada and Italy. The success of an immigration policy should be considered as a function of its operating system and not just its design. To this extent Canadian policy-makers have designed and modified an immigration system that is meant to be perfectly in tune with the country's economic and demographic needs. However, both countries will have to face common challenges: limitation of access for illegal immigrants; regulation of irregular workers and integration and emancipation of immigrants and especially immigrant children at the bottom of the social scale.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
