Naltrexone use Among Patients Diagnosed with Alcohol use Disorder in Ontario
Bibliographic record
Abstract
Naltrexone, a medication used to manage alcohol use disorder (AUD), was added to the Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) program in 2018. This retrospective population-based cohort study among Ontario public drug beneficiaries who initiated publicly funded naltrexone from June 2018 to September 2019 aimed to determine the duration of naltrexone use in Ontario, as well as assessing the relationship between prescription setting and time to discontinuation of naltrexone. Among 2531 patients with AUD , the median (IQR) duration of naltrexone use was 31 (29-100) days, with 394 (15.6%) continuing naltrexone for 6 month or longer. Overall, there was no strong association between setting of initiation and duration of use, although, compared to those starting in physicians’ office, individuals initiating after an ED visit were less likely to be dispensed a second prescription. Future research can further elucidate the barriers encountered by patients with AUD, that lead to poor treatment retention.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.

machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
