Abstract
We live and we die…that much holds true. What we do in between becomes our TRACES…\n\nMy thesis exhibition is comprised of acrylic paintings, silkscreen prints, charcoal drawings and a relief panel piece all relating to the lives of twelve residents of an independent living housing facility in Lethbridge, AB. Through interviews with the residents, I obtained images of their past and present which are reflected in this body of work and portrayed as TRACES of their lives.\n\nThe work is very flat, hard edged, and colorful. I created a system whereby I took an image and broke it down into simple shapes. From this I then produced a painting using many layers of acrylic paint, meticulously executed resulting in a steady hard line as the colors meet. To express my work I utilized canvas, mdf board and paper. Silkscreens also form part of the display, but the breaking down of the image is consistent throughout.
