Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

George Frederick Folingsby was born in Wicklow, Ireland in 1830 and moved to Canada and subsequently New York at the age of 18. He was employed as an illustrator before touring throughout Europe, Asia, Turkey and Greece to study drawing. In 1862 he sent two pictures to the Royal Hibernian Academy: 'The Relief of Derry' and 'William of Orange receiving the Keys from the Govenor of Carrickfergus'. Following a 16 year residence in Munich, he was awarded 1st class medals for history painting in the Vienna Exhibition and in the Philadelphia Exhibition and moved to Australia in 1879 where he was appointed Director of the National Gallery of Victoria in 1884.Reports conflict as to his significance in Australian Art, although he seems to have been a profound influence on several members of the Heidelberg Group. (Astbury, p46.)

Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
