Abstract
Postal museums show a very specific, challenging and unique kind of cultural heritage. This article will describe three postal museums in North America: the Canadian Postal Museum in Ottawa/Gatineau (1971-2012), the National Postal Museum of Washington dc (opened to the public in 1993), and the Museo de la Filatelia of Oaxaca (founded in 1998). Some institutional, architectonical and technical aspects of these three museums will be compared, bearing in mind some exhibits presented from August to October 2011. Finally, the article will suggest some heritage possibilities latent in postal museums, according to their precise typological traits.
