Abstract
Archaeological monuments are carriers of our national authenticity and historical evidence of unparalleled importance. A change of attitude towards the managements and museifications of archaeological monuments in Ukraine is needed. The monument of national importance «The area of the coastal city quarter of medieval Kyiv» on Postova Square, its location, the area of the territory, the components of this monument provide an opportunity to use the most effective method of creating a museum – in situ. The modern archaeological museum on Postova Square is considered as a special social institution. In order for the archaeological heritage of Ukraine to have more chances not only for preservation, but also for museification, development, and more active involvement in revealing the potential in the tourism sphere, a complex of changes and additions to national laws is needed
