Il progetto di rivitalizzazione dell’urban quarter Vydrica, si colloca in un luogo di altissima importanza per l’immagine della città di Bratislava. Posto alle pendici della collina sulla quale sorge il Castello, il sito occupa lo spazio fino alla riva del Danubio, visibile anche a grande distanza. L’intervento entra a far parte dello skyline della parte più rappresentata della città, raffigurata in dipinti e fotografie, siti web e depliant turistici. Per questo motivo prende spunto dal confronto con l’immagine della città, crea un dialogo con i suoi elementi costitutivi. Gli edifici, con il loro passo articolato e differenziato, reinterpretano i caratteri distintivi della città storica con un linguaggio contemporaneo, rappresentando anche la sua storia e complessità. Le parti di centro storico separate con gli interventi di demolizione e con la costruzione del nuovo ponte, tornano a dialogare, il flusso di percorsi tangenti alla collina e dei sentieri che vanno dalle rive del Danubio alla rupe del Castello torna a scorrere.
