Abstract
L’écrivain québécois Sylvain Trudel met en scène dans plusieurs de ses œuvres de jeunes personnages qui opposent au monde rigide des adultes une clairvoyance agrémentée d’un brin de naïveté. Cette posture les rend fragiles et susceptibles d’être attaqués par des forces funestes qui prennent régulièrement, chez le romancier et nouvelliste, un visage manifestement puisé à même un fonds mythologique fécond : quand la mort frappe, c’est ici dans un élan d’implacabilité qui donne des impressions de ressemblance avec un Thanatos ou un Belzébuth, mis toutefois au goût du jour. On reconnaît dans cette entreprise de réactualisation la dualité qui, depuis Platon et jusqu’aux confins du christianisme, marque les traits donnés à la mort. Sylvain Trudel a toutefois tenu à nantir les représentations récupérées d’une originalité que l’on reconnaît dans la facture bigarrée des forces auxquelles ses personnages sont confrontés.
