Abstract
L’importante réforme du système scolaire québécois a renouvelé le curriculum et les programmes d’études pour la scolarité obligatoire. Nous avons examiné les programmes pour l’enseignement du français, langue première au primaire et au secondaire afin de comprendre le ou les sens attribués aux concepts de langue, de langage et de littérature et les fonctions que ces objets occupent dans la programmation disciplinaire. Globalement, ces programmes adoptent une approche instrumentale de la langue, des textes et de la littérature, et les contradictions relevées dans l’utilisation des concepts étudiés nous laissent perplexes quant à leur capacité à guider les enseignants de français de façon précise et cohérente.
