A native of Utrecht, the Netherlands, he lived as a child in Sioux County, Iowa. Graduate of Northwestern Academy at Orange City, Iowa. Hope College class of 1916, member of the Cosmopolitan Fraternity, Y.M.C.A., Ulfilas Society and Debate Team. Western Theological Seminary (WTS) class of 1919. Minister of the Reformed Church in America (RCA), 1919-1957. Ordained by the Classis of Holland in 1919. Served as a pastor for RCA churches in Reformed Church of Beaverdam, Michigan (1919-1922), Hope Reformed Church of Sheboygan, Wisconsin (1922-1930), Reformed Church of North Holland in Holland, Michigan (1930-1943), Reformed Church of Friesland, Wisconsin (1943-1950), Chatham, Ontario, Canada (1950-1955), North Blendon, Zeeland, Michigan (1955-1957). Died in Waupun, Wisconsin, on November 13, 1970. The collection includes photographs of Maassen as an undergraduate at Hope College and seminary student at WTS, biographical information, and three articles he wrote. (Legal-M)
