Abstract
In this article the author notes the lack of erotic writing in Indigenous cultures throughout the world. The repression of sexuality and erotica is seen as part of the political and religious oppression of Indigenous peoples. This repression was effectively carried out as Indigenous stories were translated and retold in English in ways that made them more "acceptable." The author explains that she is collecting erotica from Indigenous writers in order to counteract stereotypes and misconceptions. The article concludes by emphasizing that as Indigenous peoples reclaim the sexual and the erotic, they participate in the process of decolonization.
