Abstract
This book was compiled in honour of professor emeritus Pentti Kerola from the University of Oulu on his 80th birthday.The book consists of eight essays written by his colleagues, former students and friends.They address a variety of topics related to information systems (IS).The first four essays are related to IS development that was Pentti Kerola's major research interest especially in the beginning of his research career.The fifth essay discusses IS education and in particular Ph.D. education in Information Systems, issues of Pentti Kerola's continued interest when he created the IS curriculum at the University of Oulu and later when he initiated the nation-
