Abstract
In the cemetery near the village of Luchistoye, in vault 154, in a female burial 2, dating back to the first quarter of the 7th century, an amulet ring with the lion-headed snake Chnoubis was found. According to Egyptian astrological treatise and lapidaries, Chnoubis was one of 36 decans responsible for the health of digestive system. That is why the image of Chnoubis is often met on medical amulets applicative for improving digestion and treating different diseases of digestive tract; they are found on late Antique Gnostic gems and early medieval bracelets. A woman buried in Luchistoye also used such a ring with Chnoubis as an amulet. She wore in the region of her stomach, in a special breast necklace. Finds of this kind extend our conception of beliefs of the population of early medieval Crimea and of relations of the region with the provinces of Byzantium.
