Abstract
"Corona" was built at Bertram Yards, Toronto in 1896 and placed on the route between Toronto, Ont. and Lewiston, NY until 1937, when she was cut up for scrap at Buffalo, NY. Owners were the Niagara Nav. Co. of Toronto; Richelieu & Ontario Nav. Co. of Montreal; and later the Canada Steamship Lines of Montreal. Some historians claim "Corona" was rebuilt from the "Chibola," a Canadian passenger steamer built in 1887 at the Rathburn Yards in Desoronto, Ont., which burned at Lewiston, NY in 1895. However, Canada histories do not verify this and give the "Corona" as being built new at Toronto in 1896, and not rebuilt from "Cibola."
