Abstract
L’iode 129 est rejeté de façon chronique et contrôlée par les usines de retraitement du combustible usé mais peut également être rejeté en même temps que l’iode 131 en cas d’accident nucléaire. Sa quantification dans les échantillons de l’environnement est donc primordiale. Actuellement, les limites de détection de ce radionucléide ne permettent pas toujours d’atteindre les activités potentiellement mesurables dans l’environnement. Une nouvelle méthode d’analyse a été mise en place en adéquation avec les caractéristiques physico-chimiques de l’iode, notamment son extrême volatilité. Celle-ci est composée d’une extraction de l’iode de sa matrice, d’une purification permettant de concentrer l’échantillon, et enfin d’une mesure par spectrométrie de masse. La limite de détection a pu être améliorée d’un facteur > 10. Cette méthode a pu être appliquée à une étude environnementale, permettant d’évaluer l’émission de l’iode 129 du compartiment marin vers le littoral par émission de gaz ou d’aérosol
