Abstract
Qué tratamiento es más apropiado, mi mujer, mi esposa ó mi señora ? Antes de contestar, permítaseme una ligera digresión. Si se compulsa el uso que tienen las tres expresiones, habremos de convenir en que Ja última es la que se lleva la palma. Hasta el más infeliz de los maridos que ruedan por estos mundos de Dios se siente muy satisfecho cuando se le ofrece el caso de decir, al hablar de su media naranja, mi señora; y toca advertir que lo dice hasta con cierto orgullo ó vanidad, como dándose humos de incienso. Y si se encuentra atinado esto de llamar á la propia mujer mi señora ó la señora mía, ¿ cómo se explica el contrasentido que resulta cuando al dirigirse por escrito á una mujer cualquiera, á una desconocida muchas veces, no se tiene reparo alguno en tratarla de muy señora mía ó mi distinguida señora? Si la voz señora pudiera connotar la existencia del vínculo matrimonial, bien podríamos también suponerlo en los tratamientos apuntados como muy propios de las cartas, y entonces. ... ni mormones que fuéramos
