Abstract
Due progetti molto diversi a Singapore, uno eseguito ormai da oltre quindici anni, l'altro appena finito, offrono lo spunto per avviare una riflessione sull'opera di Moshe Safdie. Il dato che emerge da questo confronto è il graduale abbandono del tema metabolico della scatola di montaggio a favore di quello espressionista basato sulle grandi superfici. Si passa da una composizione che deriva dall'Habitat '67 di Montreal e che nel suo sviluppo in altezza mostra ancora pienamente i caratteri della ricerca sulla complessa aggregazione dell'alloggio,iniziale, a un'architettura espressionista, ma anche organica, concepita per assemblaggio di volumi giganti, di raggi di luce, di ombre e graduali passaggi chiaroscurali. Abbandonata la dimensione del progetto come tessuto, che ha il suo momento iniziatico più elevato nell'Expo canadese, periodo nel quale Safdie puntava tutto sulla scala urbana del progetto architettonico, la centralità della ricerca è diventata in quest'ultima terna di torri quella del macrosegno che rimanda a un'immagine metafisica della realtà.
