Before that, he was the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Nova Southeastern University. Previously, he has served as the City Manager of the following cities: Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Portsmouth, Virginia, and Virginia Beach, Virginia. Dr. Hanbury received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Virginia Tech, and a Master's degree in the same field from Old Dominion University. He received his doctorate in Public Administration from Florida Atlantic University
