Abstract
Eén der oudste nieuwsbladen uit Oostende was de Feuille d'Annonces.We kregen een deel van de jaargang 3 en 4 (periode 16 november 1820-27 december 1821) te zien en lazen volgende muzikale items samen :1 februari 1821 : Ene J. Govaerts biedt een aantal muziekpartituren te koop aan en twee muziekinstrumenten, nl.een serpent (de slangvormige voorloper van de ophicleïde en de tuba) en een hoorn met daarbij alle wisselstukken om in diverse toonaarden te kunnen spelen (er bestonden nog geen ventielen).9 april 1821 Aankondiging van een "Concert Vocal & Instrumental" in de Salie de la Rhétorique (Franciscusstraat 30), door Mr. Duquenoy, Chef d'Orchestre.14 juni 1821 : De Oostendse muziekleraar Christiaens, Rue du Carénage (Werfstraat), biedt een piano van 5 1/4 oktaaf en met 4 pedalen te koop aan.21 juni 1821 Optreden in de "Salie de Spectacle" van "Les Quatre Chanteurs de Vienne" (Schiele, Kaplan, Fellauer & Daeubler) die a-capella (zonder instrumentale begeleiding dus ) zang en gezongen interpretaties van muzikale nummers brachten.Een verre voorloper van de barbershop-singers en Voice-mail dus, die, als we de Feuille d'Annonce mogen geloven, groot succes kenden in Parijs en andere Europese steden.
