Abstract
Resultante de um aumento da esperança média de vida, observamos um crescimento demográfico da população idosa. Conduzindo a um problema de edentulismo relevante nesta faixa etária. Com base na declaração de consenso de McGill (2002) e York (2009), podemos afirmar que as sobredentaduras são uma excelente solução para a reabilitação dos pacientes edêntulos, proporcionando conforto, restaurando a função mastigatória e estética. Segundo tais afirmações, foi realizado este estudo que teve como base a identificação do grau de satisfação dos pacientes portadores de sobredentaduras. Foi realizado um questionário utilizando o método de escala visual analógica (EVA), perguntas sim/não e de escolha múltiplas. Os resultados obtidos foram analisados estatísticamente numa base de dados SPSS® (análise qualitativa e quantitativa; correlação das diferentes perguntas com as provas de T-Test e ANOVA). Perante a análise dos resultados observamos que o grau de satisfação dos pacientes portadores de sobredentaduras é bastante elevado e que o gênero, o tipo de retenção da sobredentadura e o grau de satisfação do uso prévio de prótese convencional influênciam positivamente o grau de satisfação dos pacientes, bem como a possível colocação de outra sobredentadura.
