La música y la danza son usados alrededor del mundo en iniciativas de intervención psicosocial para promover el bienestar, la convivencia y el respeto en las comunidades, así como un instrumento para la paz en situaciones caracterizadas por un contexto social violento, por tanto, el presente trabajo busca comparar la influencia de recibir formación musical y formación en danza en el desarrollo del comportamiento prosocial y la empatía en niños de áreas urbanas vulnerables. Siendo este parte de un estudio longitudinal más largo, esta primera etapa se caracteriza por tener un diseño pre-test, en la cual se midió la empatía a través de dos cuestionarios: prueba de empatía por dolor (EPT) y el cuestionario de empatía de Toronto; el comportamiento prosocial fue evaluado a través de una prueba situacional. La muestra correspondió a 40 sujetos que llevaban alrededor de 4 meses participando en un grupo de formación musical (20) y en formación dancística (20). Su rango edades en el momento de recoger los datos era de 9 a 14 años (Media = 11,3 años, DE = 1,51; 12 niños, 28 niñas).
