Abstract
The second session of the IODE Steering Group for Global Ocean Surface Underway Data (formerly Underway Sea Surface Salinity Data) Pilot Project was held at the Marine Environmental Data Service (MEDS), Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Ottawa, Canada from 16-17 September 2002. \nDuring its Second Session the Steering Group reviewed the draft project plan. The three Working Groups - (i) Products, (ii) Transfer, processing and archiving and (iii) Data Collection - outlined their input to the project. The draft working group reports will be completed by March 2003 and presented at IODE-XVII. Two mailing lists for the project have been established to provide improved communication within the Group.
