A l'occasion d'un semestre d'internat de pharmacie à l'Hôpital Sainte Justine de Montréal au Québec, un projet de restructuration du secteur de la recherche clinique à la pharmacie a vu le jour. Cette expérience originale a permis de se pencher sur la question des différences franco-québécoises dans la gestion des essais cliniques par les pharmaciens hospitaliers. En effet, les protocoles de recherche dépendent tous des mêmes lois internationales sur l'éthique et des recommandations édictées par les Bonnes Pratiques Cliniques, mais au demeurant, chaque pays va garder une façon propre de fonctionner liée à ses lois et à ses habitudes de pratique. La comparaison se base au départ sur la situation de la pharmacie de l'Hôpital Sainte Justine d'une part, et celle du Centre René Gauducheau à Nantes d'autre part. Après une présentation de l'aspect réglementaire de la recherche clinique ainsi que des différents acteurs impliqués, les rôles du pharmacien hospitalier au Québec et en France sont détaillés et illustrés par des exemples issus des deux hôpitaux. A la suite, une réflexion est faite sur cette comparaison afin de mettre en avant les bénéfices que pourraient en retirer la profession.
