Abstract
Le 4 juillet 1990, un conduit d’eau éclata au 4e étage de l’édifice des Archives nationales du Canada situé sur la rue Wellington à Ottawa. Un certain nombre de documents irremplaçables de la collection nationale des cartes et plans furent ainsi sérieusement endommagés. L’eau abîma près d’une centaine d’atlas et de livres rares, et dix volumes particulièrement détrempés durent subir un traitement de séchage à froid. Dans la chambre forte inondée se trouvaient également les cartes anciennes de Ptolémée et de Mercator.
