Abstract
Considerato da molti in India come uno yogi, un guru, una persona capace di trascendere e di cogliere l'ineffabile che ci circonda, Correa è stato di fatto il mio maestro distante, legato profondamente alle mie origini indiane, con cui costantemente ho immaginato di confrontarmi. Una figura di pensatore, architetto e urbanista a cui tendere. Tutta la sua produzione, da quando stupì il mondo a soli 28 anni con il suo museo-memoriale per il Mahatma Gandhi ad Ahmedabad, fino all'ultimo lavoro, l'Ismaili Center a Toronto, è un susseguirsi di progetti fuori dal comune. In ogni circostanza ha avuto il coraggio di mettersi in discussione, operando in estrema onestà e rendendosi disponibile a confrontarsi con luoghi, culture, climi e soprattutto gruppi di persone eterogenei. In molte sue opere della maturità ha profuso uno sforzo intensissimo nella ricerca profonda della dimensione spirituale più alta, nel tentativo di introiettare parte dell'energia cosmica che ci circonda, in architetture dense di carattere.
