A presente dissertação visa à análise da literatura, publicações e discursos de Othon da Gama Lobo D?Eça (1892-1965), escritor catarinense. O período refletido nas obras diz respeito a um processo de transformação urbana ocorrido na cidade de Florianópolis e interior do Estado de Santa Catarina, na primeira metade do século XX. Figura de destaque no cenário catarinense, Othon D?Eça foi escritor, membro da Academia Catarinense de Letras, Secretário de Segurança Pública do Estado, professor de Direito e político, tendo inclusive sido chefe provincial do Integralismo. Este trabalho visa a propor algumas interpretações sobre a produção intelectual do autor, articulando o contexto histórico, a biografia, publicações, anotações e discursos de Othon D'Eça, evidenciando alguns dos impasses da modernização em Florianópolis nas décadas de 1920 a 1950.
