L'idée de «wilderness», ou nature sauvage, est une illusion puissante et compréhensible ancrée dans le contraste entre les paysages européens et ceux du Nouveau Monde, les ambitions des colons et la rhétorique du progrès. Elle efface les Amérindiens et ce faisant, laisse la place au colonialisme et au repeuplement par les européens. Cet article examine certaines questions liées à l'idée de «wilderness» en Colombie Britannique et la politique controversée de la terre qui entoure le mot dans cette province de l'ouest canadien.
