Abstract
L'énorme dépôt de pierres à fusil du site du Palais de l'intendant à Québec se présentait au départ comme un sujet d'étude des plus intéressants. Les pierres à fusil étant faites de silex, notre étude doit commencer par une recherche sur cette matière et son utilisation à travers le temps. Une fois introduit à la nature de ce matériau et à son histoire, la connaissance du contexte archéologique du dépôt étudié constitue une suite logique qui nous permettra d'aborder certaines questions soulevées dans notre problématique. C'est ainsi qu'il nous a fallu élaborer une morphologie et une typologie des pierres à fusil dont les données ont été traitées de façon à alimenter notre questionnement. Les résultats ainsi obtenus ont été replacés dans le contexte archéologique du site afin d'établir la provenance et la datation de ce dépôt. Puis, une étude expérimentale, dans un contexte se rapprochant le plus possible de celui prévalant à l'époque de l'utilisation des pierres à fusil nous a fourni des indications sur la qualité de ces artefacts. La conclusion fait la synthèse des éléments significatifs identifiés par la recherche.
