Abstract
À l’aide de données mensuelles, ce mémoire propose de quantifier la rémunération du risque de change au Canada entre 1990 et 2013. Si cette forme de risque est pertinente, le marché devrait offrir un taux de rendement ex-ante supérieur pour les entreprises y faisant face. À la suite d’une régression linéaire de l’espérance de rendement d’un actif sur un portefeuille de marché et sur les variations du taux de change bilatéral Canada-Etats-Unis, un coefficient significatif témoignera de l’influence du risque de change lors de l’évaluation des actifs financiers. En s’inspirant des travaux de Koutmos et Martin (2003) et de Muller et Verschoor (2006), nous testons la présence d’asymétrie dans l’exposition au risque de change des entreprises au Canada. L’impact de la taille de l’entreprise ainsi que du secteur d’activité dans lequel elle évolue est également mesuré. Nous trouvons une exposition modérée, entre 10 et 20% des firmes de l’échantillon, aux fluctuations du taux de change. Cette exposition est plus prononcée lors de la deuxième moitié de l’échantillon (2002 :1-2013 :8).
