Abstract
CAMPUS LIBRARY service is a rapidly growing and evolving aspect of librarianship.Off-campus academic programs continue to proliferate both in number and variety.The awareness of the importance of library services to extended campus programs has heightened.Emphasis on quality and effectiveness of extended campus library service is also increasing.The latest review of the A C R L Guidelines for Extended C a m p u s Library Seruices was completed in 1989, and the revision was approved in January 1990.This article will describe the process of the review, consider some of the issues that were raised, and also respond to the question that standards might be more appropriate than guidelines.
