e projet a permis de créer un modèle dynamique permettant d'observer les effets de l'accélération provenant de l'explosion d'une mine Anti-Véhicule (AV) sur les occupants de véhicule blindé léger. Le but du modèle est de prédire les lésions issues de ces accélérations. Ces prédictions permettent de tester et de mettre au point différents systèmes de protection pour les occupants. Il a tout d'abord été démontré que l'utilisation d'une tour de chute verticale permettait de reproduire les accélérations globales subies par le véhicule lors de l'explosion. Différents modèles dynamiques ont démontré qu'avec ces données d'accélération, un modèle à segments corporels rigides est suffisant pour représenter grossièrement la cinématique de chacun des segments lors de l'explosion. Les efforts internes aux segments, provoquant de toute évidence les lésions, calculés à l'aide du type de modèle mentionné plus haut semblent erronés. Par conséquent, une deuxième phase du projet a consisté à améliorer un modèle simple à segments corporels rigides par une représentation anatomique plus réaliste. Étant donné l'ampleur d'un tel travail, les travaux se sont concentrés sur le cou, apparemment plus susceptible aux lésions. Le modèle est basé sur LS-Dyna (v971, Livermore Software Technology Corporation, Livermore, CA, USA) et a été exécuté sur le système de calcul sériel Mammouth du Réseau québécois de calcul de haute performance afin d'accélérer le temps de calcul. Les résultats démontrent des déformations et des taux de déformation très élevés pour les muscles, ligaments et fasciae du cou. De plus, le modèle nous a permis d'identifier une séquence de lésion particulière. La première structure lésée est le ligament nucal, suivi du ligament antérieur. Les lésions arrivent plus spécifiquement au niveau CO-C1, à la base du crâne.
