In de Canadese provincie Brits-Columbia, in het westen van het land, is de noodtoestand uitgeroepen. ”Duizenden mensen hebben een evacuatiebevel gekregen, tienduizenden anderen zijn gewaarschuwd voor evacuatie”, aldus de premier van Brits-Columbia.
