A handwritten note in the Crookshank/Glin Archives reads: 'Fisher Sir Charles Bulteel 1764-1834. A landscape and shipping [illegible] who was a pupil of F. Sonne. [?] He served in the artillery in the peninsula and in Canada and at the end of his life was Commendant at Woolwich. He exhibited at the RA from 1780-1808 and a number of [illegible] were made from his views from about 1790.'
