Abstract
RÉSUMÉ: Entre 1996 et 2016, on note une diminution d'environ 20% d'exploitations et d'exploitants agricoles pour le Québec et le Bas-Saint-Laurent. Il s'agit d'une réalité qui s'inscrit au coeur d'enjeux économiques, démographiques et sociaux du monde rural. Dans le cadre de cette recherche, nous nous intéressons à une partie de ce problème, soit le démarrage de fermes. À partir d'un échantillon constitué de 13 entreprises agricoles du Bas-Saint-Laurent, nous nous sommes appliqué à décrire le déroulement du démarrage et les premières années d'exploitation de l'entreprise agricole. En nous inspirant de la littérature sur l'entrepreneuriat, nous avons choisi d'investiguer plus spécifiquement trois angles. La subjectivité de l'exploitant compris au travers des choix, de la satisfaction envers la situation et de l'engagement qu'il porte à son projet. La relation entre le ménage et l'entreprise où l'on cherche à comprendre le fonctionnement de l'interface travail-famille et la façon dont celle-ci influence les choix. La dimension relationnelle où l'on s'intéresse à la fois aux aides apportées par le réseau de l'environnement et aux lois et normes découlant des organisations. This reality is connected to economic, demographic, and social issues within the rural world. In this study, we look into an aspect linked to this reality: the creation of the farm. From a sample of thirteen farms in Bas-Saint-Laurent, we describe the start-up of the farm and its subsequent years of exploitation. Inspired by literature on entrepreneurship, we will explore more specifically three angles. Farmer's subjectivity understood through the perspective of his choices, his satisfaction and his commitment. The relationship between the household and the business where we try to understand the structure of work-family interface and how it influences choices. The relational dimension, where we are interested in the help provided by the environmental network and in the laws and norms set up by the organizations.
