Preface According to Articles 4 and 12 of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), parties are required to, on an annual basis, submit national inventories of antrophogenic emissions by sources and removals by sinks of all greenhouse gases not controlled by the Montreal Protocol. This is Sweden’s National Inventory Report (NIR) for the year 2005. It contains national greenhouse gas emission inventories for the period 1990 to 2003, and descriptions of methods used to produce the estimates. The methods used to calculate the emissions and removals are in accordance with the Revised IPCC 1996 Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories and the IPCC Good Practice Guidance and Uncertainty Management in National Greenhouse Gas Inventories. The report is prepared in accordance with the Reporting Guidelines, agreed by the UNFCCC at the eighth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP) in New Dehli 2002 and subsequent decisions. This inventory is coordinated, on behalf of the Swedish Ministry of Sustainable Development, by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.
