Ce mémoire vise à traduire en français et valider le "Miller Behavioral Stvle Scale" (MBSS), un questionnaire qui évalue deux modes d'adaptation aux événements menaçants et incontrôlables, auprès de personnes séropositives au VIH. Dans un premier temps, l'évaluation subjective et empirique du MBSS, permet de confirmer que la version canadienne-française est équivalente à la version originale anglaise. Puis, des études psychométriques portant sur la fidélité et la validité de l'instrument ont été réalisées. Les résultats démontrent que la version française du MBSS possède une excellente fidélité test-retest ainsi qu'un niveau de consistance interne acceptable. La structure factorielle permet de confirmer la présence de deux facteurs distincts constitués des items des deux sous-échelles du MBSS. Quant à la validité convergente et discriminante, les résultats sont peu concluants principalement pour l'échelle de recherche d'information ("monitoring"). En somme, les qualités psychométriques de la version française du MBSS sont équivalentes à celles de la version originale anglaise. Par ailleurs, un lien entre la sous-échelle de recherche d'information ("monitoring") et celle du trait d'anxiété est démontré.
