La traducción agroalimentaria se relaciona primordialmente con la industria de la alimentación y sus productos desde que se cultivan o crían hasta que llegan al consumidor, pasando por la producción, transformación, distribución y exportación de dichos productos (aceite, vino, productos cárnicos, etc.). Esta amplia temática es el objeto de gran variedad de textos: textos científico-técnicos (textos de tecnología e ingeniería alimentaria), textos bio-sanitarios (biotecnología, sanidad animal…), textos jurídicos (contratos de empresas, legislación alimentaria…), o textos humanístico-literarios (textos históricos, turísticos…) de temática agroalimentaria. El propósito del presente trabajo es llevar a cabo una recopilación de los distintos sectores y tipos de textos de temática agroalimentaria para obtener una visión general del ámbito de actuación del traductor agroalimentario. Así mismo, este estudio pretende realizar una investigación de los encargos reales de traducción que se suelen dar en nuestro entorno más cercano para intentar delimitar las competencias básicas que necesita el traductor y atisbar las posibles salidas profesionales.
