Abstract
Au Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean (SLSJ), le Complexe Hospitalier de la Sagamie offre un programme de diagnostic présymptomatique de la dystrophie myotonique (DM) depuis 1988. Depuis le début du programme, 86% des personnes à risque ont été trouvées non-porteuses et 14% ont été trouvées porteuses de la mutation. Ce projet vise à décrire le profil sociodémographique de la clientèle et à évaluer le bien-être psychologique actuel de ces individus. Pour ce faire, un questionnaire leur a été adressé par courrier. Ce dernier comprenait des questions utilisées par les enquêtes Santé-Québec sur les mesures de détresse psychologique et de la perception de l'état de santé. Au moment du questionnaire, soit en moyenne cinq ans après le résultat du test génétique, le niveau de détresse psychologique ainsi que la perception de l'état de santé étaient similaires chez les porteurs et les non-porteurs du gène et comparables à l'ensemble de la population du SLSJ. \n
