Abstract
The following article considers the progressive urban development that took place in the neighbourhood of Sant Pere in Barcelona during the Middle Ages. Using the sources available to us (archaeology, literature and documents), we take a new approach to the data already known and hitherto unpublished to determine the factors that influenced this urban development. We particularly focus our analysis on the establishment of craft industries in the neighbourhood as a source of rental income for the wealthy classes. This situation is reflected in the identification of a possible workshop connected with the making of saddles and other related items
