Abstract
The basic principles of social policy and specific social programs in the countries of the foreign North — Iceland, Greenland, Canada, the USA (Alaska), in the Scandinavian countries are analyzed. Necessity of the state support in this sphere and its relevance for our country’s northern territories are pointed.
