Abstract
A necessidade de se conhecerem técnicas e métodos de tratamento das seqüelas neurológicas da cinomose em cães objetivou a elaboração desta monografia. Utilizando como metodologia de pesquisa o relato do caso de uma cadela Labrador com 3 anos de idade que apresentava paresia dos membros posteriores, que foi tratada com acupuntura, pelo Projeto de Extensão em Acupuntura no Hospital de Clínicas Veterinárias da UFRGS. Para o estabelecimento da cura foram necessárias 16 sessões de acupuntura, sendo que a partir da nona sessão a paciente retornou a caminhar. Esta terapia indicou-se ser eficiente para o tratamento de seqüelas nervosas da cinomose. Em virtude disto, conclui-se que a acupuntura apresentou ótimos resultados, comprovando a eficácia desta especialidade como uma alternativa na cura de doenças até então ditas como incuráveis, sendo uma destas patologias a cinomose, onde a eutanásia era normalmente indicada para animais com quadro neurológico instalado e paralisias de membros. Sendo possivelmente o único tratamento para esta apresentação clínica.
