The AgBiotech Bulletin, Volume 1, Issue 4 July/August 1993 AG-WEST BIOTECH INC. Code: NL93009 Size of Files: Text: 46K Graphics: No associated graphics files Contents Five Star Evaluation for Ag-West Biotech A recent study conducted by Dr. Jim Hay indicated that Ag-West Biotech (AWB) has made important contributions to the development and nurturing of the agricultural biotechnology community in Saskatchewan. Global Thinking Imperative Speaking at the official opening of Plant Genetic Systems (Canada) Inc. (PGS) in Saskatoon, Mr. Gerard Van Acker, CEO of the Investment Company of Flanders said that success in agbiotechnology should be directed by a global vision and fueled by broad-based venture capital. Saskatoon Means Biotech "Pssst. There's something big happening here in Saskatoon but it's been kept quiet. It's called biotechnology. In particular, agricultural biotechnology. BIONET Participants at the 10th Annual Meeting of Bionet established a set of action guidelines which would help improve public awareness of biotechnology. Attributes for Biotech Management Biotechnology is the external manifestation of the genius of the scientist. The most magnificent part is the intellect and grit of the people behind the discovery and the people who facilitate the development of that discovery from the conceptual stage through to the hands of the consumer. Jurassic Park Response According to a study carried out in the United States, the fifty-eight percent of the adults who have had exposure to the concepts of the book and movie Jurassic Park believe scientists will eventually be able to recreate life from the genetic material of extinct animals. Regulations and Competitiveness The government sub-committee on Regulations and Competitiveness has released a highlight booklet which outlines the federal philosophy and approach to regulatory review. It identifies six primary issues for change. Transgenic Wheat Breakthrough The Cereal Biotechnology Team has now successfully achieved the production of fertile transgenic wheat plants carrying various marker genes. The key to this research breakthrough was the development of an enhanced regeneration system (ERS) with the capacity to produce large number of somatic embryos and plants within a short period. 5th Annual NABC Conference The recent National Agricultural Biotechnology Council conference hosted by the University of Purdue in Indiana dealt with the emerging issues of consumer confidence and information needs. Pest Management Alternatives Office Recent consultation with special interest groups has given the federal governments Pest Management Alternatives Office (PMAO) a solid operations strategy. Biotechnology & Food Seminar A Biotechnology and Food Seminar, sponsored by Ag-West Biotech Inc., was held on Tuesday, May 4, 1993 in Saskatoon with 90 people present. Full frame machine prediction
Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
