Abstract
A magyar agrárközgazdaság-tudomány az elmúlt két évszázadban mindvégig olyan válaszok megfogalmazására törekedett, melyek egyszerre szolgálták a mezőgazdaság fejlődését és a magyar társadalmi-gazdasági felemelkedés ügyét. A reformkortól a kiegyezésig terjedő időszakot a modern, az európai fejlődés főáramába illeszkedő tulajdoni, bank- és hitelrendszer kiépítésére való törekvés határozta meg. Az ezt követő közel nyolc évtizedben a tőkés mezőgazdasági üzem működésének fejlesztése állt a figyelem középpontjában, de egyre inkább előtérbe kerültek az agrártermelés társadalmi összefüggései is. A második világháborút követően hosszú, ellentmondásos fejlődés eredményeként jött létre a magyar agrármodell, amely nemzetközileg is széles körű elismerést váltott ki. Az agrárközgazdászok munkássága jelentős szerepet játszott hazánk élelmiszer-gazdaságának európai uniós integrációjában. Napjaink hazai agrárközgazdasági kutatásainak központi célkitűzése, hogy tudományos megalapozást nyújtson a magyar bio-ökonómiai rendszer fejlődéséhez, hogy hozzájáruljon a globális kihívásokra adott hatékony válaszok megfogalmazásához. Over the past two centuries, Hungarian agricultural economics has always striven to formulate answers that would serve both the development of agriculture and the cause of Hungarian socioeconomic advancement. The period from the first quarter of the 19th century to the Compromise with the House of Habsburg in 1867 was marked by the quest for a modern system of property, banking, and credit, in line with the mainstream of European development. For the next eight decades or so, the focus was on improving the efficiency of agricultural latifundia and medium-sized estates, but the social context of agricultural production also became increasingly important. After the Second World War, the Hungarian agricultural model emerged as the result of a long and controversial development, and was widely recognized internationally. The work of agricultural economists played a significant role in the integration of the Hungarian food economy into the European Union. Today the central objective of agro-economic research in Hungary is to provide a scientific basis for the development of the Hungarian bio-economic system and to contribute to the formulation of effective responses to global challenges.
