Sebbene sia passato qualche anno dalla ratifica del Trattato di Lisbona, lo stesso continua a estrinsecare i propri effetti. Grazie a Lisbona, l’Unione ha acquisito la facoltà di negoziare e concludere nuovi accordi commerciali a seguito di una modifica che ha interessato la politica commerciale concernente non solo le modificazioni tariffarie‚ la conclusione di accordi tariffari e commerciali relativi agli scambi di merci e servizi; ma ha altresì ricompreso ulteriori settori quali gli aspetti commerciali della proprietà intellettuale‚ gli investimenti esteri diretti, l'uniformazione delle misure di liberalizzazione‚ la politica di esportazione e le misure di protezione commerciale, secondo quanto previsto dall’art. 207 del TFUE. Su tali basi, l’Unione europea ha intavolato trattative finalizzate alla conclusione di diversi accordi di indiscutibile importanza strategica, tra cui il Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (cd. TTIP) con gli Stati Uniti – attualmente in una fase di stallo susseguente all’improvvisa curvatura protezionista dell’Amministrazione Trump1 –, e l’Accordo economico e commerciale globale (Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement – CETA) con il Canada, finalizzato a realizzare un nuovo ed equo mercato di libero scambio, con l’aspirazione di implementare il commercio e l’attività economica e, al tempo stesso, far incrociare domanda ed offerta nei settori di import&expor
