Inscrit dans ce qu’on pourrait appeler la montée du consumérisme scolaire au Québec, ce projet de recherche s’intéresse à comment les parents de la région de la Capitale-Nationale font le choix d’une école secondaire privée pour leur enfant. Cette région est caractérisée comme un « quasi-marché » scolaire en raison de la concurrence entre les écoles publiques et privées, mais aussi en raison du comportement des parents désireux de trouver l’école qui convient le mieux à leur enfant. C’est avec comme objectifs de comprendre les intentions des parents qui font le choix d’une école secondaire privée et de cerner les composantes du processus du choix scolaire que nous avons interviewé 14 familles de la région de la Capitale-Nationale. À partir d’un modèle d’analyse développé par Agnès van Zanten (2009), nous avons identifié trois types de processus empruntés par les parents pour choisir un établissement d’enseignement privé : les familles convaincues, averties et anxieuses.
