Ce mémoire rend compte de divers facteurs qui impactent et définissent la (re)construction de l’identité ethnoculturelle chez des immigrants latino-québécois de génération 1.25 et cela, en se fondant sur l’expérience et la subjectivité de quatre jeunes adultes d’origine latino-américaine. L’objectif est de mieux cerner la perspective qu’ont ces derniers face aux appartenances et identités ethnoculturelles qui se maintiennent et se forment, dans le cadre de leur immigration et de leur intégration au Québec, qui constitue un environnement culturel unique, au sein du Canada. L’étude cherche également à mettre en relief certains des facteurs influençant la formation de ces identités ethnoculturelles. Elle fait appel à plusieurs définitions de l’identité et de l’identité ethnique et/ou culturelle, qui servent à guider les entretiens effectués ; elle maintient en même temps la flexibilité de ces définitions, en complétant celles-ci par celles qu’en font les immigrants-mêmes. S’inspirant d’une approche constructiviste, la recherche emploie une démarche qualitative et narrative, donnant la parole à quatre immigrants âgés entre 24 et 30 ans, lors de 10 entretiens ouverts et thématiques, au cours desquels sont abordées leurs expériences d’immigration et d’intégration, en lien avec leur développement identitaire. À partir de ces entretiens, la recherche analyse non seulement la définition de l’identité ethnoculturelle, mais aussi le rôle de la langue et des interactions sociales dans la formation de l’identité immigrante, tout comme la multiplicité et l’hybridité de cette dernière. \n_____________________________________________________________________________ \nMOTS-CLÉS DE L’AUTEUR : Identité ethnoculturelle, génération 1.25 d’immigration, communication interculturelle, Québec
