Abstract
This handwritten document is a copy of court minutes from the Craven County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions in North Carolina, originally recorded on June 21, 1730. It details a series of debt acknowledgments, where individuals appeared in court to admit their financial obligations to the British crown, specifically pledging sums of £20 each as security. The document also includes the granting of a petition requesting to be discharged from confinement. Additionally, Thomas Howard is appointed constable in the area. The court adjourned and was scheduled to reconvene the following Monday morning at eight o'clock. The final lines bear the signatures of the attending justices or clerks. The back of the document notes that this copy was transcribed from a record book covering the years 1730 to 1746 and was presented to Wake Forest College by C. Durham through Professor W. L. Poteat.
