La formation professionnelle au Québec accueille des élèves aux profils variés en âge, genre, conditions économiques, motifs d’inscription et parcours scolaires antérieurs. Plusieurs élèves éprouvent des difficultés scolaires, sociales, familiales ou psychologiques persistantes susceptibles d’entraver leur apprentissage (Rousseau, Tétreault, Bergeron, et Carignan, 2007) et leur réussite scolaire. La situation des élèves en FP, dont celle des élèves à besoins particuliers, demeure méconnue (Gagnon, 2008). L’accompagnement de ces élèves s’appuie sur un modèle écosystémique mettant en jeu des facteurs personnels et environnementaux dans la production d’inégalités (Fougeyrollas, 2010) et sur les définitions de Paul (2004), de Biémar (2012) et de Gagnon (2013). Une équipe de chercheurs pluridisciplinaires a réalisé une enquête dans deux régions du Québec auprès de 2668 élèves en formation professionnelle. La communication identifiera les besoins des élèves en présentant leurs intérêts pour les programmes d’études, le niveau de motivation face à leur réussite, le vécu des élèves dans les centres de formation, aux défis à relever dans leur programme d’études. Elle traitera également des perceptions sur leurs relations avec les enseignants et avec les autres élèves, sur des habitudes de vie, sur le soutien social et sur les services utilisés pendant la formation. Nous conclurons en présentant quelques recommandations vis-à-vis des pratiques d’accompagnement pour les soutenir.
