Abstract
An archaeological diagnostic carried out by INRAP in 2022 led to the discovery of three new engraved boulders in the already well-known «Trois-Rivières area » of Guadeloupe. The work was conducted in two stages: surveying and digging by trench. The survey was performed by two INRAP archaeologists (AR, JT) using LED lights, and distributed over different observational time periods, in particular at the end of the day, in order to benefit from the better natural enlightening. Two anthropomorphic engravings were identified, corresponding to the more frequents designs of the Guadeloupean corpus, but also a spiral, a new pattern to date in Guadeloupe. This last has been modeled by a photogrammetric method (VM). Its singular nature led us to perform a brief bibliographic examination of such representations throughout the Lesser Antilles, where similarities have been observed, particularly in the southern part of the West Indian archipelago. This single discovery extends the corpus of types of representation of pre-Columbian rock engravings in Guadeloupe.
