Abstract
The Philadelphia Flyers come into this game looking to bounce back after a 3-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens in their last outing. Montreal took a 1-0 lead late in the first period and doubled their advantage early in the 2nd and rode that lead into the 3rd before Philadelphia finally got on the board thanks to a power play goal from Sean Couturier. Carter Hart took the loss, falling to 14-10-1 after allowing a pair of goals on 35 shots faced in the losing effort. The Chicago Blackhawks will also be looking to rebound after a 3-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks in their last outing. Jonathan Toews opened the scoring for the Blackhawks in the last minute of the first period to take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission before Vancouver responded to tie the game early in the 2nd and took the lead just over five minutes later and rode that lead heading into the 3rd. Time almost ran out on Chicago before Erik Gustafsson scored to tie the game with just over three minutes to go, sending us to overtime. OT didn’t last long though as Vancouver found the winner just :16 into the extra frame to send Chicago back with just a single point. Corey Crawford took the loss, falling to 12-15-3 after allowing all 3 goals on 34 shots faced in the losing effort. Philadelphia is 19-9 in their last 28 games overall and 4-1 in their last 5 road games while the under is 22-7 in their last 29 games against the Central division. Chicago is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall and 7-3 in their last 10 games as a favorite while the over is 19-6-1 in their last 26 home games. The home team is 23-5 in the last 28 meetings between these two teams. The plus money with Philly is tempting considering how well the Flyers have played over the last couple of months and given the fact that Philadelphia has also won 6 of the last 8 meetings between the two sides.
